Our History

The First Presbyterian Church of Covina was begun in 1905 when a landowner in “downtown” Covina deeded four lots to the church corporation with the now quaint restriction that any construction thereon had to be of a value of at least $500.00. Down through the years, slowly but surely, the Church continued to acquire most of the remaining lots on the block where the first Church was constructed.

Today, the only lots not under ownership of the Church are two small rental properties owned by the Baptist Church across the street to the south, and a parking lot owned by the Assembly of God across the street to the North. These three churches own the two block area on Second Avenue, which they share with the Covina City Library, originally a gift from Andrew Carnegie. God has certainly blessed FPCC; the large campus, which includes four large buildings: the Sanctuary, a Christian Ed building, and a Fellowship Hall and offices. Our property which has an outdoor basketball court is fully unencumbered, i.e., there is no mortgage on the property. The campus is presently shared with a tenant Presbyterian Church which conducts its service in the Chinese Mandarin language.
